WoW.com wrote: | Despite the nerfs in Patch 3.3, it's pretty obvious that whole lot of people still hate Oculus, enough so that they immediately bail when it comes up as a random dungeon. Apparently, it's a substantial number of people doing this, enough that Blizzard's taken notice and taken action.
But they're not removing it from the system. Instead, they're incentivizing it -- or, if you prefer to be a bit more pessimistic, turning final boss Eregos into a loot pinata in the most direct way possible. Zarhym's announced that those who happen to get Heroic Oculus with the random dungeon finder and stick it out to the end will find their own personal loot bag in Eregos' cache. The bags will contain two extra Emblems of Triumph, rare gems, and a chance at the [Reins of the Blue Drake] , formerly the rare mount drop from 10-man Malygos. To make up for the switch, the [Reins of the Azure Drake] will have a chance to drop from both 10-man and 25-man Malygos.
Will this staunch the exodus from Oculus? Will the lust for yet another pretty dragon mount inspire people to tough out the dreaded vehicle mechanics? Or will people just tough it out until they get their drake and start group dropping again? It should be fun to see what happens. |
Live, today.

Bout time. I like this idea. Mine was to start putting 6o minute debuffs on anyone who decide to accept the que invite, then leave after they see which one they drew

Like the occulus carrot, good idea.
I'd ordinarily agree with you on the debuff for bailing, think in most cases its pretty weak, but playing devil's advocate, have you ever been stuck in H-HoR with a healer who doesnt watch health bars? Ed, Sean, Coldbane and I were last night. We bailed as soon as the 15min timer was up and were all a LOT happier for it.
That said I've never bailed on Occ or HoS despite strong temptations to do so. Stick it out and most times you'll get it done.

i'll never leave an random instance because of the instance. That being said, I will not remain in a group that obviously is full of fail.
As a veteran of the Halls of Re(tard)flection, I've seen the very worst that WoW can offer over the past month. While I'll not bail on a group from the onset -regardless of GS- I'll not feel compelled to remain in a group that wipes 3 times before we even reach the first boss.
I think a perfect system would a timer on the group when you enter the instance. If you are the first person to leave the instance within that 10 mins, you get a fat 60 min debuff. This would protect groups from tanks/healers who bail immediately after walking in the door, but not penalize people for leaving a fail group.

I bailed on Occ the other day... but that was only after doing it five times in one day. Got tired of it.
