Im not that great at figuring this crap out so I figured I'd post and see if any of you had any Idea's.
So I dug out the old laptop but everytime I try to boot WoW I get a World of Warcraft was unable to load 3d error msg. I ran My direct X diagnostic thing and got
System:
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: Presario 2100
BIOS: PhoenixBios 4.0 Release 6.0
Processor: Mobile AMD Athlon XP2500+, MMX, 3DNow, 1.9G
DirectX Version: DirectX9.0c
It says in the Display Tap that Direct3d Acceleration is Enabled and works fine

ON first pass, I'd say update your video card drivers. DirectX is distinct from vid-card drivers, so make sure -especially if the rig is older- that you have the most recent.
Such as ATI Video Card and Control Panel (HP Site)
